Mother Mary Teresa Bojaxhiu

Any of us dreamed of changing the world, but only very few

chose to act on it. And fewer sll did it as bravely as this humble
                                                                                         GAUTAMI

         Mother Mary Teresa Bojaxhiu ( 26 August 1910 – 5 September

1997 ), honoured in the Catholic Church as Saint Teresa of

Calcua, was an Albanian-Indian Roman Catholic nun and https://youtu.be/H0u0645a_0Y

missionary. She was born in Skopje , North Macedonia. Aer

living in Skopje for eighteen years, she moved to Ireland and

then to India, where she lived for most of her life.

She came to India in 1929 and worked for the welfare of the poorest of the poor as well as the homeless,

orphan children and people dying from terminal illness such as HIV/AIDS, leprosy and tuberculosis. She also

         founded the Missionaries of Charity,

Her genuine desire to serve the poor is what propelled her to pursue this path. If you look at all her

humanitarian efforts, her movaons are clear as day. True lessons from Mother Teresa are - posive,

me-honored , integrity, charity and compassion. And one of the main one , "Condions should never deter

one from his or her personal goals and mission."

She treated the lepers, educated the poorest of the poor, and fed the homeless. She treated them like her

family. She didn’t care if someone was white, black, brown, yellow, young, old, male or female. All the

cricisms and sly comments against her did nothing to exnguish the passion in her heart.

In 1979, Teresa received the Nobel Peace Prize "for work undertaken in the struggle to overcome poverty

and distress, which also constutes a threat to peace".She refused the convenonal ceremonial banquet

for laureates, asking that its $192,000 cost be given to the poor in India and saying that earthly rewards

were important only if they helped her to help the world's needy. When Teresa received the prize she was

asked, "What can we do to promote world peace?" She answered, "Go home and love your family."
